The Black Friday Bride: 5 Items to buy on the best shopping holiday.

Image
With the holidays fast approaching, I always make a list of things I need for the coming year that tend to go on sale on Black Friday. Not only can you score great Christmas deals, but you can get some much needed supplies for your wedding. Typically Black Friday ads start to show up in the first week or two of November to allow shoppers to make their list and check it twice! Read on for lists of things that tend to go on sale on Black Friday and what I have my eyes open for personally: 1) Jewelry! Engagement season is once again rearing its head.  Many jewelers will have holiday/Black Friday sales to entice people to buy engagement rings however, most of their other stock will be on sale including wedding bands, and other pieces of jewelry you may want to wear or gift.  Check out the promo emailed to me above by Helzbeg diamonds.  Now this is more of a pre-Black Friday sale, but as I am still looking for my wedding band, you can bet I'm going to browse! DIY or DI Don't?

Image
With the development of  Pinterest  weddings are becoming more and more customized. And the cheapest way to get custom? DIY of course. Pinterest has an overabundance DIY projects for you to choose from across a wide array of topics: wedding, skin care, clothing, etc. DIY is not always cheaper or the best way to go. A good rule of thumb is don't try to tackle projects you're not comfortable with and in terms of wedding comfortable making in volume. Also the last thing you want is to be trying to finish up your DIY's the day of the wedding!! Keep reading to figure out if DIY is right for you: 1) Do you have the time or mental capacity for it? When planning a wedding you don't just have your money budget, you also have your time budget, and your sanity budget. If calligraphy on  200 envelopes sounds like it will make you jump out the window, it probably is worth it to pay for someone else to do it. On the flip side if you have the time and find calligraphy relaxing

Avoiding the "W" Word

Image
Ever notice how everything wedding related is expensive? One of the ways to avoid paying the wedding mark up is to avoid shopping at traditional wedding stores or for any item with the word wedding in its title. This doesn't mean avoiding purchasing items you need for your wedding just obtaining them in a more creative way. Note: some people recommend when approaching vendors for quotes to avoid telling them it's a wedding. This isn't a great idea for a few reasons a) how many people regularly throw parties with 100-400 guests? it's fairly obvious a b) you want to make sure you're working with vendors who have expertise in weddings and for them to be fully prepared for the task at hand. Did you know some of your favorite stores have wedding collections? Because they're not fully in the bridal industry these wedding collections tend not to have the full price, without sacrificing quality. Here are some companies that have bridal collections and some of them

Welcome to My Blog!

Hello all my Foxy Brides and Grooms! Welcome to the blog and congratulations on your upcoming nuptials. Planning a wedding is one of the most exciting and over whelming times of your life. Not to mention costly! My friends all say I am the most frugal person they know and I wanted to bring that thriftiness into my wedding. My motto is if you can find the same quality for less why waste the extra money? Part of planning a successful budget that doesn't go crazy overboard in the $$$ is to know when to save and when to splurge. Those instances will vary based on each of your priorities for your wedding. For me, I do freelance photography and have photographed my fair share of weddings so a good photographer and good lighting were on the top of my priorities list (aside from the groom and the marriage itself of course)! The wedding industry is a crazy, crazy world and after doing months of research for my own wedding I wanted to share my findings with my fellow Foxy Brides and Grooms
